1. 研究目的与意义

When mentioning equality , we always talk about the men and women. In the legend , women are even just bones of men, which suggests that women are created by men and they must obey men. Although marriage is the most important event in women#8217;s lives, women always cannot choose whom they want to love. In the ancient time , men can have many wives but women have only husband. The inequity between men and women can be seen from marriage. There are a large number of people trying to achieve rights for the women. Jane Austen is not only an English novelist, but also a feminist. In her most well-known works such as Pride and Prejudice, the heroines are eager to pursue true love, this is against the traditional view. To some degree, she teaches women to maintain their rights. Jane Austen is popular among the younger, the view of marriage and the feminism in her books have also affected the readers.

2. 研究内容和预期目标

The essay will talk about two main ideas of Jane Austen. One is the view of marriage and the other is the feminism. A list of reasons which affect Jane Austen#8217;s character will be explained such as family, industrial revolution and so on. After learning about her main works, her view of marriage and the feminism will be analyzed in detail. At the same time, the comments from critics and readers will be introduced, both positive and negative comments will be included.

Some of Jane Austen#8217;s works have become classic and been made into movies, thus more and more scholars try to learn deeply about her. Almost everyone has their own opinion about Jane Austen. Because of her care to the family, Richard Simpson has ever praised her as the always lady. David Ceil has ever said that marriage based on money is false if you get married without money, which is also stupid. This is his comment on Jane Austen#8217; view of marriage. Jane Austen is good at describing the conflict of sense and sensibility between men and women.

Chinese scholars did do some researches about Jane Austen many years ago . Her works are popular among Chinese youngers and affect a lot. Many masters have translated her works and to some degree some of her works are classic. The themes of Jane Austen#8217;s works are always marriage and love , so in special period, her works are forbidden. Zhang Jianfei thinks that in her works sense is similar to the virtue. While Liang Xiaohui put forward an idea from the analysis of Elizabeth who is in Pride and Prejudice, she looks forward to the marriage which is based on love. Liu Minxia keeps focusing on the feminism in Jane Austen#8217;s works and always look for ways to expand fields of researching.

Jane Austen#8217;s attitudes to the marriage are complex, because she looks forward to the pure love but the love cannot exist without money and social status. At the same time, her views are controversial. All of these are the reasons why I want to do researcher about her.
